from The Gray Area:
8/7/24:
A friendly, big government politician, authoritarian & socialist. The worst kind.
A list of observations from the information currently available on Gov. Walz.
- He seems to be a good guy
- He also seems to be a politician, meaning
he’s changes his stripes depending on who he’s talking to.
-
Former football coach, nice on the résumé
-
Got a DWI years ago, now he doesn’t drink (alcohol or coffee), a good thing
-
He’s a gun owner and hunter. That’s a good thing, but doesn’t square with Harris gun compensation plans.
-
A Gay rights supporter, a good thing
-
Religious, a good thing
-
His children were born via IVF, will get him a warm-hearted response
- he was a pick
vs Shapiro of PA, who got targeted by the anti-semitic left. He tries toehold the Democrat position on Israel, which is as mamby-pamby as you can get. Not good.
- He supposedly
prevailed in the primaries in Minnesota over more progressive opponent- that doesn’t mean he is not progressive
-
He represented a red district as a Democrat, which will be used to highlight his supposed by partisanship
Yet his policies are sharply, even radically, progressive left, which indicate his true desires. For example:
-
Increase taxes in Minnesota, now the fifth highest
-
16% death tax
-
The state is losing taxpayers as a result.
-
A supporter of unions
-
Legalized recreational marijuana
-
Illegal immigrants in Minnesota are eligible for drivers license, free college & health insurance
-
Free college for students with family income, less than $80,000
-
20 weeks a year of paid family and medical leave
-
Mandating public utilities, 80% carbon free electricity by 2030
- Radical
abortion statutes with no limits and no age consideration
-
Established automatic voter registration, and permanent absentee ballots sign up.
-
Declared Minnesota a trans-refuge state
-
His response to the 2020 riots after George Floyd killing a serious question.
-
He has acknowledged that he has a white privilege, won’t shy away from progressive values, and that’s one person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness
- He apparently has a folksy sales pitch for much bigger government.
- According to MSNBC he is needed to shore up support for older white voters
If a person is a one issue voter, you can find on his resume something to like and to dislike.
The media is trying to reinvent Kamala Harris as a centrist versus an extreme radical progressive. The addition of Walz, with his record, will either confirm his radical leftism (for the far-left progressives) or enable her to differentiate herself (for moderate Dems). Will have to see how it works out on this one.
Gov. Walz is very good on his feet. Unfortunately, he is a political narrative, word salad, machine. Which means he is talking political shorthand which is usually void of truth & reality. But, he is much better at it than Kamala.
With Trump picking a mini-me vice president (JD Vance) and Harris picking a mini-me vice president (Tim Walz), there should be a clear policy & ideological difference this year. You either want socialism, big government and authoritarian control. Or, you want democracy, small government with individual liberty.
Unfortunately,
a recent poll stated people are not voting on policy. Frightening.
