Yemeni group expands its drone capability and improves coordination with other regional allies of Iran.

A drone strike on Tel Aviv claimed by Yemen’s Houthis shows how the Iran-aligned militant group has frustrated a six-month U.S. military campaign to contain it by increasing coordination with Tehran’s network of regional militias and upgrading its arsenal.

The strike killed one person and wounded several others near a U.S. Embassy office. U.S. Ambassador to Israel Jack Lew called it a “brazen Houthi drone attack.” The Israeli military said it believes the device was launched by the Houthis from Yemen.

While Israel has been regularly targeted with rockets and drones launched by Hamas and Hezbollah, it was the first drone attack on Israel’s commercial capital since the war in Gaza began more than nine months ago.

It also appears to be the first time the Houthis have hit Tel Aviv
