John Kerry again?

8/10/24:
Democrat VP candidate Tim Walz' military record is getting a lot of attention. In a 2018 video Walz is shown stating that “We can make sure those weapons of war, that I carried in war, are only carried in war,” Walz said in the video. People familiar with his record said that is not true. So, now it becomes a constant left - right back and forth political narrative. This entire episode reminded me of Democrat Presidential nominee John Kerry in 2004. People who served with Kerry said his Vietnam record was not exactly as he claimed. Kerry left for politics, just as Walz said he did. What came to be known as 'Swift Boating', putting a high level of attention on the subject by people (Swift boat crews) who were there.  This attack is believed to have hurt Kerry in that campaign which he eventually lost to GW Bush. Kerry left for politics, just as Walz said he did. Gov. Walz served 24 years in the National Guard, before he retired in 2005 and ran for Congress. He never saw combat. Today the Harris campaign came out and said Walz ‘misspoke’ in saying he served ‘in war’. That clarification should spare us the nonstop back and forth of the parties on the subject. But, military service is an important and sacred duty in America. Any question about your military integrity does not go away easily. Politicians always 'mis-speak', sometime by accident and sometimes on purpose. Congress had its share serving now. But, rest assured, that the Trump campaign will certainly use this 'mis-speak' under a caption of 'stolen valor' throughout the rest of this Presidential campaign. More From NPR: More From CNN:
