On December 6th, Pope Francis spoke about the situation in Jerusalem.
After Wednesday's UN vote to condemn the US decision to move its embassy, the Holy See made this statement: "The Holy See calls for peaceful resolution that respects the nature of Jerusalem, its sacredness and universal value, and reiterates that only an international guaranteed status can preserve its unique character and be an assurance for dialogue and reconciliation for peace in the region.”
Pope Franicis added these comments: “I make a heartfelt appeal so that all commit themselves to respecting the status quo of the city, in conformity with the pertinent resolutions of the United Nations,” Pope Francis I said in a statement made at the time. “I cannot keep quiet about my deep worry about the situation that has been created in the last few days.”
