What the 2024 election looks like now that the press isn’t covering for the president. the reason Mr. Biden got away with it so long is that the president’s people knew the Beltway press corps would give them cover, and that Fox News would be the only outlet at the White House that would ever raise a question in the daily press briefing.

Biden’s allies are now paying for the delay in acknowledging the reality they denied to the American people. But voters can’t unsee what they have seen, and Mr. Biden can’t make his mental issues go away. There are many suggestions from Democratic strategists about what Mr. Biden “needs” to do to prove he still has it: stage no-holds-barred press conferences, do a town hall, take an independent cognitive exam with all the results made public, etc.

But none will work. They would only confirm the doubts everyone has.

The Democrats know they can’t make Joe go. He’s the president, and he has the delegates. Apparently he also has the team he trusts most—his wife, Jill, and his son Hunter—encouraging him to stay.

President Biden came out swinging on Monday to save his presidential candidacy—not at Republicans but at the Democratic “elites” who are urging him to withdraw lest he lose to Donald Trump and take other Democrats down with him in November.

Prominent House Democrat says voters no longer see Biden as credible in race against Trump. Monday’s pre-emptive strike, a letter from the president to House Democrats declaring he is “firmly committing to staying in the race.”
