President Joe Biden tapped Nancy Abudu, deputy legal director at the Southern Poverty Law Center, for the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance her nomination to the full Senate by an 11-10 party-line vote Thursday.

Committee member Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, slammed Abudu as “entirely unfit to serve” and as a “partisan activist,” as demonstrated by her affiliation with the SPLC.
