If You’re In One of These 5 States, Obama’s Gitmo Closing Announcement Might Affect You

Moments ago, President Obama said, “For many years it’s been clear that the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay does not advance our national security. It undermines it.”
Guantanamo Bay–a United States military prison–may be finally closing.
The Defense Department, with Obama’s support, submitted a plan to Congress to close Guantanamo Bay. There are 91 detainees that remain at the facility. In his announcement today, Obama said that 35 of the detainees would be transferred to other countries.
But what about the remaining detainees? Where will they go?
According to the Government Accountability Office, if you live in the following states, Obama could possibly move detainees to these six U.S. prisons.
States:
– Virginia
– South Carolina
– California
– Kansas
– Washington
