A lawsuit targeting America’s most popular rifle type is designed to bankrupt law abiding firearm manufacturers. Does it have a chance of success?
[Yes, because] it isn’t hard to image 12 jurors reacting emotionally to these lines and others Kostoff uses to enhance the emotional impact of the complaint. And make no mistake, emotion-no fact or law-is what the plaintiffs attorney are backing on in this case.
This lawsuit is frivolous and violates the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, [said] eminent Second Amendment scholar and attorney Stephen P. Halbrook.
Politics has [already] moved Bushmaster.
Last year Remington Outdoor Company (ROC) announced it was moving its Bushmaster rifle and Remington model 1911 pistol production lines from its nearly 200-year-old plant in Ilion NY, to its new facility in more gun-rights friendly Huntsville, Al. Interestingly those jobs were moved from Maine to NY after ROC bought Bushmaster after Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) lobbied to have these jobs moved to NY State.
