2/1/22:

Using gender-neutral language in medical research may negatively affect women, medical experts argue in a paper due to be released this week.

Using gender-inclusive language, which often involves body parts or physiological processes, can have an “othering” effect, the paper’s authors say.

Removing references to the sex of mothers could also reduce visibility of women in medical research and potentially threaten their autonomy, according to the paper.
