A 286-to-134 bipartisan vote to approve a $1.2 trillion spending package sent the measure to the Senate on Friday, hours before a midnight deadline to avert a partial government shutdown. The bill would fund roughly three-quarters of the government for the next six months and has the support of President Biden and leaders of both parties in Congress.
