August, 2023:

Government unionists hope to stem Janus-related ‘member’ exodus. Five years since Janus decision, 35% of Alaska public workers opt out of union dues. 16.3% of ADSCME workers.

However, Alaska is a dismaying case in point.

Shortly after Gov. Michael Dunleavy (R) was inaugurated in 2019, his administration began an effort to directly inform employees of their Janus rights and ask for written consent if they wished to remain union members ad keep paying dues.

The infuriated bosses of AFSCME files suit in state court (Alaska, et al. v. Alaska St. Emp. Ass’n, et al. ), charging tht this initiative violated the PERA.

The clubbish Alaska Supreme Court delighted government union bosses by ruling that the Dunleavy Administration’s modest measures violates PERA.

As in Alaska, union bosses in Florida and Kentucky have already filed suit against roll-back of their state supplied perks.
