Andrew Delke, 26, who is white pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the killing of Daniel Hambrick, 25.
Hambrick, an armed black man, was shot from behind while running from officers in July 2018.
Nine months earlier, Delke, was reprimanded by supervisors for reaching for his taser instead of his gun when arresting an armed black man in a similar case
