Republicans have seized control of the Senate, picking up seats in Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Montana, North Carolina, South Dakota and West Virginia in Tuesday’s midterm elections.
Republicans also retained control of the House on Tuesday, putting Democrats in a tight spot for the remainder of President Barack Obama’s time in office. Democrats also struggled in gubernatorial races around the nation, with conservatives like Rick Scott in Florida and Scott Walker in Wisconsin winning re-election.
