“Environment Florida” is an environmental pressure group that wants voters to think that wind power makes economic sense for Florida.

Contrary to what Environment Florida would have us believe, wind power remains vastly more expensive than power generated by coal, oil or natural gas. Moreover, Florida’s low elevation and frequent calms make it a below average candidate for wind generation.
When Environment Florida says things such as, “in many states, wind power is now cheaper than gas or coal,” they imply that Florida can enjoy the same advantages that others do. Sadly, tracking this statement back to its source reveals that they are really talking about small parts of other states and European countries where electricity costs triple what it does in Florida.
If wind power was up to the task, people would not need tax credits, subsidies, mandates and misleading representations to induce them to build it.
