CNN Contributor Ignores White Victim, Blames Us for Noticing

Former CNN contributor Roland Martin began his News One Now show on Monday night by whining about MRC’s NewsBusters. Martin, you see, has a habit of highlighting any and all instances where black individuals are killed by police officers, while completely ignoring the frequent occurrences of white individuals–and members of other races–being killed by police.

While all such cases are equally unfortunate, we should not allow the liberal media to cover the issue of police-involved shootings with such racial bias.

NewsBusters called Martin out for this last week, after he shamelessly ignored the high profile case of a white, Australian-born, Minneapolis resident named Justine Damond. Damond was an unarmed 40-year-old woman, with no criminal record, who was simply calling the police to report a possible assault near her home. She was shot and killed by a Somali-American police officer.

The situation received national news coverage all week.

Still, Martin decided to update his viewers on cases involving blacks killed by police–completely ignoring the Damond tragedy.

Martin is clearly guilty of pushing a misleading narrative, and NewsBusters called him out on that. Statistics compiled by The Washington Post show that roughly twice as many whites die at the hands of law enforcement each year, compared to the number of black individuals killed by police. And yet, Martin droned on and on only about blacks who are killed by cops.

NewsBusters seems to have gotten under the skin of the former CNN contributor, but we have no regrets. Martin, along with all other blatantly biased liberal journalists, need to be held accountable for misleading statistics.
