Hillary Clinton has been in the public eye since the mid-1970s, and there have been plenty of times when she didn’t tell the truth. Here are eight of those moments.

1. Benghazi. Hillary told the public that a YouTube video sparked “protest” in Benghazi. She said, “I want to address the video circulating on the internet that has led to these protests in a number of countries.” However, on the night of the attack, Hillary emailed her daughter and wrote, “Two of our officers were killed in Benghazi by an al-Quida-like group.” This means that she knew it was more than a protest and that it was linked to terrorism.

2. Private email server. Hillary Clinton claimed her private email server followed guidelines and said, “It was allowed under the rules of the State Department… it was allowed.”
A federal judge responded to this and did not agree. He said that it “violated government policy”

3. Tried to join the Marines. Clinton claimed that she was turned down by the Marines when she applied in 1975 and she said, “He looks at me and goes, ‘Um, how old are you.’ And I said, ‘Well I am 26, I will be 27.’ And he goes, ‘Well, that is kind of old for us.’ And then he says to me, and this is what gets me, ‘Maybe the dogs will take you,’ meaning the Army.

4. Her immigrant heritage. “All my grandparents, you know, came over here, and you know my grandfather went to work in a lace mill in Scranton, Pa.” Clinton’s paternal grandfather, Hugh Rodham Sr., was born in England, but her three other grandparents were born in the United States.

5. White House net worth. In an interview Hillary claimed, “We came out of the White House not only dead broke but in debt.” However, it was proven that her net worth was $32,015,000.

6.Landing under sniper fire. Hillary said, “I remember landing under sniper fire. … We basically were told to run to our cars. Now that is what happened.” This was proven false.

7. Fossil Fuel industry contradiction. Hillary was asked why she took money from the fossil fuel industry if she was a supporter of renewable energy and she responded, “Well I don’t know that I ever have, I’m not exactly one of their favorites.” However, Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the super PAC supporting her have received more than $6.9 million from the fossil fuel industry.

8. Asked about lying. Hillary was asked “Do you always tell the truth?” and she replied, “I always try to.”
