Why does Congress sink to such low points when trying to conduct the people’s business?

Today the Democrats in Congress showed exactly who they are when they instituted a sit-in on gun control. This stunt followed a filibuster and walk out last week over the same issue. The mainstream media propagandists gave them plenty of support for these efforts.

President Obama praised the Dems in a tweet. Former President Bill Clinton said ‘this is leadership”.

Several Republican congressmen criticized the sit-in as a political stunt. “Calling this a sit-in is a disgrace to Woolworth’s,” Rep. Mark Walker of North Carolina tweeted. “They sat-in for rights. Dems are ‘sitting-in’ to strip them away.”

Paul Ryan called this a “publicity stunt”.

Republicans had staged a similar protest in 2008. Democrats controlling the House at the time turned off the cameras amid a GOP push for a vote to expand oil and gas drilling. Republicans occupied the floor, delivering speech after speech after Pelosi, then the House speaker, sent lawmakers bolting to their August recess. Pelosi at that time had ordered the cameras turned off.

The reactions to less dramatic, but otherwise similar efforts by Republicans over the debt limit in 2013 got outrage from Democrats, selective reactions from President Obama and criticism from the leftist media.

The Democrats reacted to defeat on gun legislation with a childish temper tantrum. The Republican reaction to defeat when the shutdown and filibuster over the debt limit failed in 2013 was much different. “We fought the good fight,” said Speaker John A. Boehner of Ohio, … “We just didn’t win.
