Gun Control
The 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America secures the right of citizens to bear arms. Specifically it states: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. The left wants to eliminate guns from every law abiding citizen because guns are dangerous. Unfortunately, this leaves guns only to criminals. Not a very smart approach to eliminating a constitutional right. A right that has nothing to do with the role of guns in 18th century life. The Founders knew that throughout history, government overreach, as Britain did to their colonies and without the ability to defend themselves, is unrestricted. Give a look at public opinion in Gallup Polls on guns. Give a look at the way law abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves at Armed Citizen. Give a look at gun violence statistics.

"Gun Violence', or just violence?

7/7/23
from The Gray Area:
7/7/23:

The killing in the Capitol Hill neighborhood has frightened residents, including one whose Nest video captured a single gunshot and four young people running down an alley.

This was the exchange between one gang who shot and killed a Lyft driver in DC as reported by the Washington Post:

“You just killed him,” one person says in the footage. “He was reaching, bruh,” another says. “He was about to get out.” “He was reachin’, bruh.”

This is exchange is evidence of violence and lawlessness, not the political narrative of 'gun violence'. As a matter of fact, black on white violence. Further, it is just random, non-sensical violence. Robbery. Murder. But, none of this supports any political narrative, therefore, The Washington Post ignores it as a cause of violence in DC. The real cause, they want you to believe, is the political narrative, 'gun violence'. Though they do report the exchange on this video, the rest of the story is 'gun violence' around the country in recent days. And, by adding the murder of a former soldier in Afghanistan Lyft driver, they hope to gain more support from Independents and RINO Republicans.

As [DC mayor] Bowser walked, the D.C. Council prepared to consider her “Safer Stronger” legislation, which members are expected to debate at next week’s legislative meeting. The bill would, among several provisions, impose new penalties for gun crimes ...

This is not journalistic curiosity or even journalistic professionalism. This is journalistic propaganda in support of Democrat political narratives. DC already has some of the tightest gun laws in the country and they have stopped nothing. So, the reaction is, lets make them even tighter, progressively moving toward elimination of guns, obviously.

This issue requires realistic and honest dialogue about root causes, not about political narratives. If there is a 'gun violence' tag to this crime it should be a 2X multiplier in the sentence for these hoodlums for using a gun in their robbery attempt & murder.
