Misinformation
Misinformation is a false or inaccurate information, especially that which is deliberately intended to deceive. This is contrasted with disinformation in that disinformation is deliberately deceptive. According to Wikipedia, misinformation can be traced back to renaissance Italy. Dr Robert Malone called misinformation a “mass-formation psychosis,” that a “third of the population [is] basically being hypnotized” into believing what the mainstream media and Anthony S. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious-disease expert and chief medical adviser to President Biden, report on the vaccines.

'...moving the needle...'

If there was ever an article that points to the problems with journalism, this is it. The bias, the arrogance, the self importance, the total disregard for the reaction of its audience, the political narratives are all present in blatantly and surprising honesty. Maybe it is because it is the editor's last day that he decides to take the cloak of impartiality off. Here are a couple of examples:
  • we soldier on, smugly content in the knowledge that right is on our side.
  • do it anyway.
  • Democracy is under siege, here and around the world.
  • The climate emergency is upon us.
  • Disinformation is a growing scourge.
  • we believe that our reporting can move the needle.
  • focusing less on the results of our work and more on the importance of telling the truth to our audience.
  • I believe in the power and purpose of journalism.
The political narratives supported are not open for debate by 21st century journalism. They are to be prmoted by journalists toward 'moving the needle' in their direction. None of this is a surprise to American citizens. However, they still watch/read/listen to this news. Stop! Vary your news sources and find the facts. More From CJR:
