Style vs Substance, unfortunately, Style alone usually wins

Listening to former President Trump’s 2024 announcement speech last night I was reminded that from a substance point of view, the work he did when he was president was outstanding. He relayed that record last night and if you were paying attention you understood that everything he did was for America, for Americans and for the peace of the world. There are those who think he only does this for his ego, and yes, he does have an outsized ego. But, then, there is almost a requirement for a certain amount of ego involved in being President of the United States. It is a partisan criticism. Bill Clinton & Barack Obama are full of ego, but nobody ever complains about that ego. When people complain about Trump‘s ego it is the introductory point to attack his style. Most Americans don’t like Trump's personal style, that’s just a fact. They don’t like his mean tweets (me either), they don’t like the way he deals with people on Twitter, they don’t like the way he attacks people in public, in debates, etc. (me either). They primarily use style arguments to cover up and deflect from the substantial work that Trump did for this country. Abraham Accords, North Korea, Russia & China in check, ISIS destroyed, tax cuts, rising wages, low inflation, record low unemployment, energy self sufficiency, renegotiated tariffs, stopped bad international agreements, secure borders, violent drug gangs disempowered, intellectual property theft identified, and much, much more. When he was president, obscured by media TDS, negative press & claims of lies, his accomplishments were not easy to see, but they are blindingly obvious now after two years of him not being in office. There are many Americans over the last two years who, as a result of the media and the Democrats in Congress, have come to believe that he is a threat to democracy as a result of the January 6 riot. The 'insurrection', as they put it, what led by him and was an assault on the country. None of that is true. But, it is a successful political narrative against Donald Trump and it goes to his style and more to his egotistical motivation, which many believe is that of a tyrant. No. When you look at his actions when he was president, you look at the programs and policies put in place and you will find no tyrannical activity. The media can spin his activity on the border as racist against Muslims, racist against Hispanics, and the way he was building the wall was all tyrannical. But that is all distraction. And, we can see that without his attention to the border we are now under invasion on a daily basis. Donald Trump has the clarity of thought, determination, the strength to resist attacks, and the patriotism necessary to Make America Great Again. MAGA has been made into a negative term, an extremist label, by the media and Democrats. They do that because the term 'Make America Great Again' cannot be refuted directly. So they have made it into something which is not. It is not a racist movement, it’s not an extremist movement, it’s not a violent movement. It is as it says, a movement to 'Make America Great Again', and he had already done it. As anyone can see now, on a daily basis, America is far from 'great'. But, two years ago it was becoming 'great' again. Now we are laughed at around the world,  our economy is in shambles, our energy self-sufficiency is gone and our spending & debt are unsustainable. Donald Trump has proven in his first term he can fix all that and quickly. On substance, he is the best person for the job right now. However, his brand has been so badly damaged by lies that he can probably not win a fair election. What a shame that is. When the best person for the job is being sullied by mud slinging. This tells you how damaging our legacy corporate media is right now and our increasing limitations on free speech give that media more power and almost unlimited control to shape the opinions of Americans. Of all the many dangers to our republic that is one of the biggest. It is not hard to put a political platform down against this administration. Biden as a leader is a failure. His administration as a leadership team is a failure. His woke, progressive policies are a failure on a scale almost unimaginable a few short years ago. These are very difficult times.  We have stood up to such times before.  Do we have the intestinal fortitude to do it again?  Can the strength of the 'greatest generation ' remind us what is necessary to succeed? Or, will we succumb to the tyranny of the corporate media and woke, progressive weakness? Substance folks. Substance makes the difference. But, it is not just what you do, but how you do it, that presents an admirable and inspirational image to the world. Be nice if we could get substance with a little style, too.
