In the final weeks of his Presidency, not unlike random other instances throughout his 4 years, Trump made some mistakes. His frustration over the 2020 election got the best of him. On one hand, that is understandable. On the other, as President, that cannot happen. Obama & Clinton have lied to the American people, remember Benghazi. Why no outrage? That is our media for one. It also represents to weakness of the Republican Party. Would any Democrat do what McConnell or the other 7 Senators who voted 'Yes' to impeachment do today? No. That runs through every vote on every issue. Does incitement only occur if you are a Republican? Yes. As you saw during the trial, many more Democrats, regularly, continuously and still use inflammatory language , worse than Trump's and causing harm, to no outrage. “It is a sad commentary on our times that one political party in America is given a free pass to denigrate the rule of law, defame law enforcement, cheer mobs, excuse rioters, and transform justice into a tool of political vengeance, and persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree,” Trump said in a statement issued by his office. He is correct! This double standard has to end. McConnell made a largely fair review of the impeachment situation. The trial was unconstitutional and political. He castigated Trump's actions. Yet, he let the Democrats off easy. This double standard has to end.
