Voting Rights
Voting is a basic tenant of this country. We the people, run this country and voting is the way we do it. Therefore, issues have surrounded voting since our founding. Currently, voting registration, voter fraud and electoral college issues regularly get debated, with the Electoral College being threatened by Democrats and voter fraud in 2020 a major concern to Republicans. In addition, non-citizen voting and changing the voting age to 16 have been added to the discussion by the left. Election Integrity Scorecard by state.

Voter Suppression or Voter Integrity?

7/13/21
from The Gray Area:

At least 59 House Democrats are leaving the state to deny Republicans a quorum during special session.

Texas Republicans advance voting restrictions in special session

Gov. Abbott called the legislation a matter of election security, and an emergency. Democrats say the legislation is aimed at preventing their supporters, including many minority group members, from voting. Democrats believe they are in 'the fight of our lives here...'.

So which is it? Voter suppression or voter integrity?

A few questions to consider:

- Right now the mainstream media is supporting the actions of the Texas Democrats to flee the state. What would the mainstream media and the national Democrats say if Sen. McConnell had his 50 Republican Senators flee Congress to avoid a vote on the horrendous For The For The People Act, H1/S1, The most dangerous bill ever presented before Congress? Would they stand up for the Republicans right o do so? Or, would they lambast the Republicans for dereliction of duty and cowardice? I think we all know the answer to that question.

- What is in the Texas Bill that scares Democrats? Is it the need to eliminate 'unsecured' ballot drop boxes? Is it the need to eliminate local officials from changing voting laws in violation of the Texas State Constitution? Is it the requirement for driver’s license or other identification number on absentee ballots? Is it the ban on state officials sending out unsolicited mail-in ballot? Is it the ban on 24-hour and drive-in voting? Is it laws against ballot harvesting? Is it deadlines for voting & vote counting? Is it signature or voter id requirements? Yes, it is all the above. So why are they afraid?

Voter ID supposedly dis-enfranchises certain populations. There is no evidence of that assertion, however, just a political claims. Most voters in Texas and 77% in the US agreed with voter ID. Most black people in America support voter ID. Most people in America have to show an ID for most everything they do, is voting not as important?

- Why are Republicans so scared of H1/S1, The For The People Act? Because, it is a national takeover of the American election system. The failing of other countries election systems is that they are national and thus raw meat for election fraud. If there is one thing that will destroy this country, it is a nationally run election system. The Founders created a local, state run, distributed election system and that has worked successfully for longer than any other in the world.

- Is the Texas bill more restrictive that others in the country? No.

- Is this just Jim Crow laws all over again? Some Democrats say it is, with one objective, to suppress black votes. This is an embarrassing position for anyone to take. All you have to do is review Jim Crow laws and you will see there is no similarity at all. Anyone using Jim Crow should be ashamed.

- Republicans’ election law shenanigans are more of the same. They torment, annoy and harass voters — especially the poor, hourly workers, the elderly and voters with disabilities ... This argument is so void of intellectual honestly and fraught with political bias, it requires no response!

One thing both sides will agree on, this is 'the fight of their lives'!
