You’ve heard the old saying, “Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern." What about 39 times? That's not just a pattern but an irrefutable trend.
Today, MRC Free Speech America, through a Fox News exclusive, published a study on 39 times Facebook has interfered in U.S. elections since 2008, which follows last month’s MRC report on Google meddling in elections 41 times.
Unfortunately, these Big Tech giants, which assist the left side of the political aisle, enjoy remarkable market dominance. Google has a staggering 92% share of all internet searches, and Facebook boasts 175 million users in the U.S.
A few highlights of the MRC’s Facebook election interference study include:
- In 2024, Meta censored Biden opponents RFK, Jr. (I), Larry Elder (R), and Jill Stein (G).
- In 2022, Facebook’s censorship focused solely on Republicans, including Senate candidate Eric Greiten (MO), congressional candidates Rich McCormick (GA) and Robby Starbuck (TN), and gubernatorial candidates Kari Lake (AZ) and Kay Ivey (AL).
- In 2020, Facebook censored numerous Donald Trump campaign ads, at least one pro-Trump Super PAC ad, and multiple anti-Biden-Harris ads prior to Nov. 4.
- In 2018, Facebook censored various pro-life candidates, including Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT).
- In 2012, Facebook suspended a Veteran PAC for a meme drawing attention to the attack on Benghazi, which served to benefit President Barack Obama.
