Mass Shootings

Doubling down on distraction & false political narratives

The best way to understand what is happening following the horrific mass shooting in a Christian school in Nashville is to understand the strategy of the left. What is bad for the right is not necessarily bad for the left. What is true is not necessarily true for everyone. What is bad for the left can be covered up with opposite political narratives. For example, it was apparently an 'insurrection' for Trump supporters to trespass at the Capitol while Congress was in session on January 6th. But, not for Democrat protestors to storm the Tennessee capitol on March 30th and take over the proceedings in support of gun control and gay & transgender rights (after a transgender person was the shooter in Nashville). Talk about 'inconvenient for the narrative' Tennessee Republicans Boot Democrats Who Incited Insurrection From Committees, Threaten Expulsion This apparent contradiction is not a mistake. It is on purpose and called 'repressive tolerance'. This week those same political forces have doubled down on distraction and opposite political narratives. The Washington Post stated: Tennessee Republicans’ dramatic expulsion of two Democrats who agitated for gun control in the state Capitol after a mass killing is the latest move by Republican state leaders around the country to stifle dissent and expand their power base, free speech experts say. This one sentence has a dizzying array of false political narratives. First, if someone breaks the rules and disrupts proceedings there are usually consequences. But, if that someone happens to be black, the consequences are applied only because they are black. If they are Democrats, it is only because of the racist Republicans. These are distractions from the facts of the matter.  Who really suppresses opposition, Dems or Reps? Who cancels those who disagree with them, Dems or Reps? Who threatens free speech, Dems or Reps? Who hangs negative 'right wing' labels on reps/Cons, but does not hang negative 'left wing' labels on Dems/Prog? These are all tired political narratives which are the opposite of reality. Controlling political narratives has been successful for tyrants for the past 100 years, and has been at work in the United States almost that entire time as well, growing exponentially since 2008. You are supposed to become confused by constantly hearing the opposite of reality and told to ignore your lying eyes. 'Only listen to us' they say, the voices of the intelligent few, the unseen expert class, who understand and know better than you. Do not succumb to that thinking. This country was built on the strength & intelligence of the individual. The only way it will continue to be great and lead the world will be through this same strength and intelligence. Vary your news sources and listen to your own conscience and judgement.
