The New York Daily News designed this cover for Friday before the ambush of police in Dallas: Just days after the United States celebrated its 240th birthday, people in interviews across the country said that the nation increasingly felt mired in bloodshed and blame, and that despite pleas for compassion and unity, it was fracturing along racial and ideological lines into angry camps of liberals against conservatives, Black Lives Matter against Blue Lives Matter, protesters against the police. Whose side were you on? Which victims did you mourn? Included in the ongoing coverage of the ambush of police in Dallas on Fox 4 News was an interview with a member of the Huey P. Newton Gun Club. For those who do not know this group, here is the description from Wikipedia: The Huey P. Newton Gun Club is an armed organization named after Black Panther Party founder Huey P. Newton. The organization is a coalition of black revolutionary organizations: Blacks Against Racist Cops (BARC), Guerrilla Mainframe (GMF), The Black Riders Liberation Party, The Balogun Clan, The Peoples NBPP.[citation needed] The club fights against police brutality. The group often stage armed marches in protest of police brutality. A handful of protesters [Bureau of American Islamic Relations] showed up April 2nd outside a Nation of Islam mosque in South Dallas, only to find that soon they were vastly outnumbered by counter-protesters [New Black Panther Party] ready to defend the mosque. Micah X. Johnson, accused police shooter in Dallas, was a member of the Houston New Black Panther Party for a short time. This continuing pattern makes the chilling NY Post headline all too real and is our worst case scenario. Finally, after 8 years dividing the country along racial lines, President Obama recognizing this destructive trend said that America is not as divided as some suggest. Clearly it is. And, the only solution he, Democrats and the media can come up with is gun control and racism. When gun control legislation takes weapons from individual Americans, those left armed in this country will be extreme groups like the revolutionary New Black Panthers, Huey P. Newton Gun Clubs and the like, and local BAIR-style militia. This is our worst case scenario. We are being led toward this worst case scenario by an incompetent media pushing division among Americans, one incompetent political party (Republicans) and one dangerous revolutionary political party (Democrats). When 2,349 shootings took place in Chicago 2015 (with 77% black victims), why does the media and the Democrat party decide not to focus on this and instead focus on police killing 8 black men over two years? One can only surmise it is because focusing on race and guns furthers their political agenda. Whereas actually doing something that works to stop violence by gangs and mistakes by police does not further that agenda. The solution to gun violence in Chicago is simple, it is caused by gangs and drugs. It can be easily and significantly reduced. While the "Civil War" headline is shocking, it is clearly developing in our communities. Stop the insanity - demand better from everyone, black, white, police, media and politicians. Like Dallas Police Chief David Brown, said, ““All I know is this must stop: this divisiveness between our police and our citizens. ... We don’t feel much support most days. Let’s not make today most days. Please, we need your support.” And, by the way, DeRay McKesson, a national voice for the Black Lives Matter movement, was among hundreds of people arrested at demonstrations across the country this weekend.
