Delusional!

American media today is, among other things, delusional. The constant attack on anything from the right being consistently described as fascist, authoritarian, dangerous to democracy, racist, homophobic, etc, etc, etc... Then, couple that with the fact that the media itself is on the left yet, won't admit it! They make demonstrative statements that they are not on the left, they are the voice of reason. A few examples:
  • The Washington Post says "Democracy Dies in the Darkness", though their newspaper gives no light to any opposing views or opposing facts. Opposition is 'misinformation' or misleading. Thus, keeping its readers in the dark. Delusional.
  • When former CNN personality Don Lemon was on Stephen Colbert's talk show in 2022 he was asked if his network, CNN, was liberal. “I don’t think we ever were liberal,” Lemon replied! Delusional.
  • In an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN in 2020, then the current US Attorney General William Barr laughed out loud when Blitzer boldly stated that his network, CNN, is ‘fair and balanced‘.. Delusional.
Here is a definition and example of 'delusional'. A delusional person believes things that couldn't possibly be true. If you're convinced that the microwave is attempting to control your thoughts, you are, sadly, delusional. Delusional comes from a Latin word meaning "deceiving." So delusional thinking is kind of like deceiving yourself by believing outrageous things. Synonyms include; unrealistic, confused, deranged, neurotic, paranoid, pretentious, and aggressiveness towards a specific person or toward others. Let's continue. In today's CJR newsletter, the following is the sub-head explanation: ....[we] bring you the story of a news outlet in Wyoming that is funded by a right-wing donor and has pushed climate misinformation and anti-trans talking points. The crime in this story is having a 'right wing donor' and holding views on trans and climate that are opposite to approve media narratives. The fact that the legacy news media, and journalism in total, has 'left wing donors', editors, publishers and reporters, and holds hypocritical, unrealistic, confused, paranoid & pretentious views, just seems so right to them.  Everyone else is wrong or uses facts they don't like, so they have the right and journalistic duty to exclude and degrade them with regularity. Delusional. In this case, a GOP donor supposedly didn’t like the coverage he was getting from Wyoming’s newsrooms, so he funded a new one. What's wrong with that? That is freedom in America. That is what caused FoxNews to develop (some may think that is the problem). It  is what caused MSNBC to develop (some think this is the problem).  What we have now is both sides drawing battle lines against the other instead of printing the truth. CJR continues with...'America’s growing news deserts have become vulnerable to wealthy partisans setting up local news outlets to push their political agendas. This has raised concerns about one-sided, politically-motivated narratives being strong-armed into local political discourse.... from the start the outlet’s political agenda seemed heavily weighted in one direction.' As if, the legacy newsrooms do not have political agendas, left wing narratives, heavily weighted in one direction and left wing funding! They further state, 'Our stance is that journalism should exist to serve the public and give them news and information that they need to make informed decisions,' Sharene Azimi, communications director at the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN), told me.  'We think that being dedicated to journalism, being free of partisan stances, being transparent about your financials, are what helps people be able to trust you,' Azimi added. They just said they were afraid of another view of the news, thereby saying CJR's, and the like's, 'partisan stances' are the truth and others are not. Our left wing spin and left wing donors are better. Delusional. They offer this as an example of the problem with right wing news: 'Tow Center analysis of Cowboy State Daily content found the five most commonly cited institutes/think tanks in energy stories all had links to climate denial. ... [one] The Heartland Institute has received funding from Exxon Mobil and the Koch Foundation and has tried to undermine the science on man-made climate change... Citing such sources uncritically risks increasing the spread of climate misinformation.' Clearly, if you do not recite the approved political narratives, this one on climate change, then you are not a news organization. But, if you get funding and/or political support from climate alarmists and other chicken little types, you are supporting our narratives and you are then credible to us. Delusional! By the way, who is the TOW Center? The Tow Center for Digital Journalism, established in 2010, provides journalists with the skills and knowledge to lead the future of digital journalism and serves as a research and development center for the profession as a whole. Operating as an institute within Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, the Tow Center is poised to take advantage of a unique combination of factors to foster the development of digital journalism. There it is, the Columbia School of Journalism, a left wing journalism think tank. The Tow Center funders is a list of elite left wing mega donors. Hypocritical, as well as delusional! Then there is the 'transgender' narrative that concerns the left wing journalism organization. There is much concern & public debate on this issue today, but apparently that debate is of no concern to CJR or other so called journalists. Again, the objective of modern journalism appears to be to squash any principled and scientific debate of 'approved' political narratives. Oh, by the way, the right wing Cowboy State Daily is out publishing the others outlets. CJR does make a small attempt at fair perspective in this article: 'From one perspective, these strong conservative ties might be viewed as reflective of a deeply red state in which 82% of registered voters are Republican. From another, they provoke concerns about journalism ethics and the implications of wealthy political operatives exploiting the gaps left by the local news crisis'. The message here is we don't like message competition. They summarize with this: 'In this sense, Wyoming’s experience—declining local news, a vacuum of good information, a mega-rich partisan setting up a news outlet that has pushed anti-trans views and climate misinformation—is an alarm bell for the rest of America. If local news cannot find a route to sustainability, actors with cash and questionable motives are free to inject their talking points into the political bloodstream. It’s a warning for where we’re heading as news deserts take hold.' In other words, we like our 'actors with cash and questionable motives injecting their talking points'.  We don't like you doing what we have been doing and had a monopoly on for over 60 years. Delusional! What's wrong with other presentations of the news? For many years there were and in some areas  continue to be, competing newspapers. Competing on presentation of the news is not a problem. Competing on political perspectives on the news is not illegal. Good, quality, unbiased news should prevail if naturally allowed to. However, don't believe anyone who says they are printing the truth and others are not. They are delusional and as such lying to themselves and to you. How to deal with delusional people? Be aware, Stay neutral, Give space, Educate yourself. In this instance regarding media, vary your news sources. By doing so, you will be able to find the 'news', deceptively hidden beneath pure political narratives. More From CJR:
