Alt-Right
The media is suddenly obsessed with 'Alt-Right, as FoxNews reporter Howard Kurtz says in the article below. The term "has been wildly popular for the last 10 minutes". The Washington Post said it this way; A whole lot has been written lately about the alt-right, that insurgent, Internet-born identity movement that seems dead-set on swallowing the Republican party whole. Brietbart defines the alt-right this way. The alternative right, more commonly known as the alt-right, is an amorphous movement. Some — mostly Establishment types — insist it’s little more than a vehicle for the worst dregs of human society: anti-Semites, white supremacists, and other members of the Stormfront set. They’re wrong. Previously an obscure subculture, the alt-right burst onto the national political scene in 2015. Although initially small in number, the alt-right has a youthful energy and jarring, taboo-defying rhetoric that have boosted its membership and made it impossible to ignore. It has already triggered a string of fearful op-eds and hit pieces from both Left and Right: Lefties dismiss it as racist, while the conservative press, always desperate to avoid charges of bigotry from the Left, has thrown these young readers and voters to the wolves as well. This shows the impact of the mainstream media in picking up on negative images and then turning them into something to be used against conservative candidate and now president -elect Trump. Are right wing fringe groups worse than left -wing fringe groups which get little or no reporting?

How Many Opposing Protest Groups were Present in Charlottesville?

8/14/17
from The Gray Area:
8/14/17: updated 8/15/17:

And, lets put the whole thing in context, without the car, for a minute. Something our media should be doing.

To listen to the media and the Democrat politicians, there was only one group at the 'Unite The Right' rally in Charlottesville that turned violent this weekend. They were Nazi's, white supremacists and KKK members, all Trump supporters, there to hurt people. And, Trump didn't denounce them strong enough for the media, so he must be their version of Hitler.

That is their narrative, partially a false narrative and even then, only part of the picture of why this horrendous event occurred.

Let's start with the basics.

Is Trump Hitler? Any intelligent, reasoned person knows Trump is not Hitler. Nothing he is or does is even close to Nazi or Hitleresgue. That is simply a 'Big Lie' from the Democrat political strategy and a biased media supportive narrative. A legitimate case can be made for Fascism and Nazism being the opposing party's strategy, tactics and policies, but, that's for another post.

How many groups were at this rally?

There were two competing groups at this event, made up of 'many, many' smaller groups of participants. One, described above, that got a permit and planned to rally in defense of Civil War statues which are under threat of removal. The other, was organized to show up as a counter protest. This group was made up of anarchists, Black Lives Matter, Marxist revolutionaries, antiFA, and probably a few good people horrified for good reason anytime the KKK and related groups decide to protest or rally. I would not be surprised and I hope the DOJ investigation uncovers that this group was organized and funded by Democrat related parties for the purpose of creating a scene. It was done at Trump rallies this way, after Trump was elected and in anti-Trump protests since. We will have to wait and see.

The media narrative is that the 'Unite The Right' group initiated the problem simply by being there. They were belligerent, taunting and violent. The counter protestors group were just there singing songs and holding flowers I guess. This narrative is completely false!

Everyone knows it takes two to fight. Equally evident is that if only one wants to fight, it is hard for the other to not defend itself. It is also true that we do not know who started the fight. But, a militia group showed up to help keep the groups apart - they understood, why didn't anyone else.

The big news has been the car, driven by a nut job 'Unite The Right' participant, that plowed into the crowd killing one young woman. This event should be condemned, but it is being used to cloud a clear view of the events. If you look at the pictures and video from different media outlets you will see that provocation was not the sole purview of the 'Unite The Right' group. The counter protest groups were equally provocative, belligerent, taunting and violent (with the exception of the car).

As much as we all despise the KKK and associated groups, they have the same right as the 100's of leftist anti-Trump protests we have been subjected to around the country this year. Many representing groups and ideas we also despise. And, for you on the left, remember it is okay to publicly burn the American Flag, and there are others with the right not to like it. Having a rally is not a problem, like it or not. Having competing groups in close proximity is a problem.

In Charlottesville, you had two emotionally charged groups with opposing views facing off. This will very often cause a problem. It is not the fault of the 'Unite The Right' group (except for the car) anymore than it is fault of the counter protest group - it is both their faults. But, it is mostly the fault of the local police and state and local administrations who allowed this to happen.

The Charlottesville police chief said today there were "mutually combative individuals in the crowd". That is why what President Trump said on Saturday was spot on - 'many sides' are responsible for this type of thing. And, he condemned them in the strongest possible way.

But, of course, that was not enough for the anti-Trump mainstream media. The Democrat party strategy and the media supporting narrative have jumped in to blame President Trump for not denouncing the 'Unite The Right' people and point to racists and white supremacists as his base of support. They don't want to label the counter protestors as anything other than concerned citizens with flowers. That is why most Americans do not trust the mainstream media. If the mainstream media were doing their jobs and giving perspective, I wouldn't have to write this post.

Remember, if the leftist anti-Trump lunatics want to protest (and get all the media support), they certainly can. Then so can the 'deplorable' (yes, I used that word on purpose) KKK (which, by the way, is an institution started by Democrats, which Republicans have never supported and a former KKK member was a long time Democrat US Senator). To help the media, President Trump came out today to denounce individually the KKK, white supremacists and Nazi's. Do you think that would be the end of it then? Of course not. This all allows for the media to attack Trump 24/7 and ignore everything else that might be positive that is going on. Since we do not have the Obama Gestapo Justice Department which would focus only on one side of the problem, I hope this DOJ investigation does a thorough and fair job and sets the stage for other investigations of any future 'riots by design' in our communities. One group's participant drove the car. Both group's participants, created the environment. Trump was correct! Wake up!
