Political Correctness
Definition from Google. noun: the avoidance, often considered as taken to extremes, of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against. A simple example: If Laura, Kate and Sarah go out for lunch, they will call each other Laura, Kate and Sarah. If Mike, Dave and John go out, they will affectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Bubba and Wildman. Is this offensive to the men doing the nicknaming? Is it offensive to others who might hear them? Does it matter? A more complex example: As reported in the media, in a memo to students sent out by West Virginia University (WVU), Title IX coordinator James Goins, Jr. declares that anyone who refuses to use a person’s preferred transgender pronouns is breaking federal law! A political example: Robert Litan, a Democrat, was fired from his left leaning think tank after delivering testimony against an Elizabeth Warren-backed Labor Department plan to regulate financial advisers. Half of House Democrats and virtually all Republicans in Congress oppose the plan because of its costs. Instead of rebutting his argument, Ms. Warren decided to punish it, he was fired from his think tank. One ridiculous example: Princeton University’s ‘Men’s Engagement Manager’, to rehabilitate men that are too masculine. Obviously there are many more, even more dramatic, examples of political correctness gone wild in our culture today. Political correctness can be best described as the opposite of or the enemy of truth.

Another 'Free Speech' Casualty

Joe Caldara’s final column argued that to be inclusive, people are expected to “lose our right to free speech”

Media, political and cultural pressure is growing. Not only on political issues or political correct language, but in squelching one of the basic strengths of the American way, free speech.

No where in the founding documents, does it say that you can only say what others want you to ssay. If you offend someone with what you say, 'you' may decide not to do tht anymore. But if 'you' decide that you have a position that needs to be heard, there is nothing that can stop you from saying it. Just ask a Progressive when they discuss the benefits of Socialism, free college, free money, free child care, a free basic income, safe spaces, climate change, free healthcare, freedom from religion, and multiple genders and they will all agree. Everything except free speech.

In their warped world, 'you' can only say what they want you to say. That is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!

I am completely offended by the lack of intelligence in each of the above issues, but I will never stand for anyone trying to stop them from making those statements. You and I can make any stupid statements we want at anytime we want. But, the media, cultural and political forces show their totalitarian tendencies when they cannot return that favor.

This situation with Joe Caldara being fired over his column about 'two genders' is another in that growing list of censorship in our society. This is especially galling in journalism. That assumes we have journalism anymore, which of course we don't. But, that issue of media quality is another, albeit related, issue.

Apparently he wrote a column in which he criticized a directive in the Associated Press Stylebook which says that sex and gender are not binary. So the AP is part of the problem here. This kind of thinking is already ingrained and institutionalized.

Lets be clear. A business can fire anyone for any reason, including bad ones like this. That should not change.

But, we need to reject the bullying and forced compliance of the language and thought police at every instance.
