House’s Benghazi Report Faults Obama Administration

The final Benghazi report was issued today by the House Committee. As expected, it found grave failures in intelligence, planning, response and leadership. Also as expected, the Democrats and their loyal propagandist media said the report was a partisan Republican hatchet job against Hillary Clinton and no new information was discovered and this was a waste of time and money.

Yes, the Democrats are correct on the waste of time and money. This inquiry should have been done right the first time, but it wasn't.

This committee was necessary precisely for the reason State Department spokesman Mark Toner said in a written statement issued shortly before the report’s formal release, that the “essential facts” surrounding the attacks have been known “for some time.” Those facts all pointed to potentially serious issues that none of the seven previous reviews wanted to pursue.

What we now know as a result of this committee is this: - The Obama administration response was "slow & disorganized". - The State Department had every bit of information to be aware of the deteriorating security condition in the country. - There was never any evidence that a protest over an obscure video had anything to do with the attack. - The Obama administration told the country and the world that this attack was the result of a protest over a video. - President Obama does not take personal briefing the next morning, just reviews notes, then flies to Las Vegas for fundraiser. - Mrs. Clinton used a unauthorized and insecure, private email server while SOS. - Mrs. Clinton emailed her daughter the night of the attack telling her it was a terrorist attack. - Mrs. Clinton told the families of the victims the attack was due to the video. - Administration officials huddled to craft their public response while military assets waited hours - The first military force did not deploy until more than 13 hours after the attack started. - The report described a web of internal debates and hold-ups, including apparent State Department guidance that “Libya must agree to any deployment”. - Democrats on the committee constantly fought to hide facts, defame the committee on which they served and destroy it's credibility. (Rep McCarthy unintentionally did the same thing) In their separate report, they included Donald Trump's name no less than 23 times. What did he have to do with Benghazi, nothing. As is usually the case, the opposite of what is said is the truth. And they said it was the Republicans who were playing partisan politics.

Yes, the evidence of wrongdoing, lying to the American people and lack of leadership by Mrs. Clinton has been known for the last 4 years. There is nothing new about that. Every American, Republican or Democrat should be outraged! If not, you are deep in the tank and should go look in the mirror to find yourself.

Report also says the U.S. was slow, disorganized in responding to the attacks.

A House panel’s report on the 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya—written by the Republican majority—faults multiple agencies in the Obama administration for the lack of a coherent strategy toward the country and for failing to recognize the growing security risks. The House Select Committee on Benghazi, formed two years ago to investigate the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks on two American diplomatic and intelligence facilities, also claims the U.S. government was slow and disorganized in responding to the attacks once they were under way.

The 800-page report said Mrs. Clinton and top State Department aide Patrick Kennedy should have been aware the deteriorating security condition in the country. “It is not clear what additional intelligence would have satisfied either Kennedy or the secretary in understanding the Benghazi Mission compound was at risk—short of an attack. The intelligence on which Kennedy and the secretary were briefed daily was clear and pointed—Al Qa’ida, al Qa’ida like groups, and other regional extremists took refuge in the security vacuum created by the Libya government,” the report said. The committee’s much-anticipated final report is the last in series of congressional investigations into the 2012 terrorist attacks, which killed U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens, State Department foreign service officer Sean Smith and CIA contractors Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty. The committee’s chairman, Trey Gowdy, said that the report fulfilled his promise to conduct an impartial and fair investigation that wasn’t unduly focused on Mrs. Clinton.

But the committee’s final report laid bare the deep divisions on the committee. Two of the panel’s seven Republican members wrote an addendum to the report’s conclusion, arguing that the Obama administration misled the American people about the nature of the attacks for political reasons. The five Democrats on the panel also released their own report on Monday, which argued that the investigation has been tainted by a partisan focus on Mrs. Clinton. “We leave the Committee much the same way we joined it—knowing that Congress and the American people did not get every relevant fact from this administration,” wrote Republican Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Mike Pompeo of Kansas, two of the panel’s most conservative members. About Mrs. Clinton, they wrote, “she failed to lead.”

The Benghazi committee’s investigation into the attacks was the eighth congressional probe concerning the attacks, with Mr. Gowdy saying that he wanted to write the definitive account of the incident. In addition, an independent State Department Accountability Review Board conducted its own investigation which blamed “systematic failures and leadership and management deficiencies” for the security situation in Libya.

Republicans have long charged that the Obama administration initially played down the planned nature of attacks by an organized terrorist group for political reasons. At the time, Mr. Obama was locked in a tight re-election campaign with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

But records uncovered by the committee and released last year also show that Mrs. Clinton emailed her daughter the night of the attack, acknowledging it was an “Al Queda-like group” that attacked the U.S. diplomatic facility.

House Democrats moved to blunt the impact of the committee’s final report, issuing their own independent findings on Monday. The Democratic report said that after a two-year investigation, the new facts “do not fundamentally alter the previous conclusions” of previous State Department or congressional investigations. Democrats have long pointed to an TV interview with by Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the No. 2 Republican in the House, in 2015 where he connected Mrs. Clinton’s sinking poll numbers to the Benghazi probe. Democrats saw it as evidence of the committee’s mandate to inflict political harm on Mrs. Clinton’s presidential chances.

Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon said in a statement Tuesday: “After more than two years and more than $7 million in taxpayer funds, the Committee report has not found anything to contradict the conclusions of the multiple, earlier investigations. This report just confirms what Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and even one of Trey Gowdy’s own former staffers admitted months ago: this Committee’s chief goal is to politicize the deaths of four brave Americans in order to try to attack the Obama administration and hurt Hillary Clinton’s campaign.”
