Huawei 'threat' is focus of Congress, '60 Minutes'

A Congressional report due on Monday and a '60 Minutes' story which ran Sunday night is putting the alleged threat to U.S. information technology networks from Chinese telecom giant Huawei in the spotlight.

The report is from the House Intelligence Committee, which has been studying both Huawei and another bit Chinese telecom company, ZTE.

Committee chairman Mike Rogers, a Republican from Michigan, hinted on Friday that the report will be critical: "The report will explain why there may be reasons for concern."

Huawei, founded in 1987, the world's largest telecom equipment maker, has its U.S. R&D center in Santa Clara and its U.S. headquarters in Plano, Texas.
