Happy Constitution Day
The signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787, by delegates to the Constitutional Convention established America's national government and fundamental laws. At the 1787 convention, delegates formulated a plan for a stronger government than they had in the Articles of Confederation, establishing three branches, limited government power and giving ultimate power to the individual, organized within states. Have any documents ever been written, that more perfectly describe the relationship between a people and their government? Representing a people that are by no means perfect, The Constitution and the other founding documents provide a framework to enable we flawed human beings to strive for perfection. Therefore, anyone, who decides this country was flawed in its founding, is systemically racist or otherwise illegitimate, need only study these documents, reflect on how we have grown over the 248 years since the Declaration of Independence was written, and read/study the writings of those who crafted these documents, to know those three political narratives above are just politically self-serving and glaringly false.
Preamble to the Constitution Written & signed in 1787, ratified in 1788, and in operation since 1789… Just 52 words. "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." The Constitution, including The Bill of Rights, the first 10 amendments, and the flexibility to add amendments when the people deem necessary (now at 27), along with the Declaration of Independence, present a successful model for free people around this world. Despite what socialist activists might say, it remains a successful model even now, 237 years later! Don't believe it? Below and on the cover, is a US Flag, being held by a protestor, in China! The Constitution, and the country it established, is still the emblem for individual freedom and representative government!
