Afghanistan
Obviously Afghanistan has been the primary focal point in the War on Terror since September 11, 2001 when the United States was attacked and about 3,000 people were murdered. The US government identified Osama bin Laden and the Al-Qaeda organization based in and allied with the Taliban, the Islamic government in Afghanistan, as the perpetrators of the attacks. While political and military mistakes have been made in this 10 year conflict, we have been successful and destroying the violent Al-Qaeda and Taliban leadership and allowing a government friendly to its neighbors to hopefully evolve. This evolution will take time and be difficult, so our commitment should not waver, but our need for regular military forces in Afghanistan has ended. Continuing to watch and appropriately react to developments in Afghanistan will be an important political issue.

Afghanistan is now over!

9/9/21
from The Gray Area:
9/9/21:

Today Afghanistan is officially over. You will hear no more about it from the Democrat media. How do I know that?

Because today the Kabul airport was opened to commercial flights and the last refugees were flow and out of Kabul and landed in Qatar. Simultaneously, the Biden Administration announced two new high profile efforts, the Biden administration today filed suit against Texas 'heartbeat' abortion law and announced a vaccine mandate for federal employees and corporations with 100 or more employees. With these simultaneous acts, the Biden Administration signaled the media to move on to other topics and get that Afghanistan failure off the front pages. Going forward it will be hard to find a story about Afghanistan, unless it is a new terrorism attack somewhere or China invades Afghanistan. Not that these two topics, abortion and vaccine mandates, are not important issues to Democrats, they are, which is why they are so perfect and the timing so convenient, to the objective of removing bad news concerning the Biden Administration (Afghanistan) from the front pages.

Goodbye Afghanistan. We will now ignore you, but will unfortunately have to deal with you again in the future.

In the meantime, back to socialist control issues here.
