US runs aplogy ads on Pakistani TV!
9/21/12
from The Gray Area:

Ads are running in Pakistan by President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton apologizing for a video that the US did not make. See Jerusalem Post, Al-Jazeera and the BBC. This strikes me as creating a problem as opposed to stopping a problem.

Most people demonstrating in Pakistan right now have said they have not even seen the video and only know about it from TV and the American apology ads. By placing these ads and claiming the US had nothing to do with the video accomplishes the reverse. It appears now that the US feels responsible, otherwise, why apologize.

In one ad the President does make the statement that "nothing justifies this violence", but it is a weak comment, more in the vain of "please stop".

And, the religious hypocrisy of this action by the President screams at you when you consider:

• the President in 2008 claimed some people in Pennsylvania "cling to their guns and religion".

• That prayer is not allowed in school in America.

• That in a deliberate act of disrespect, Obama nominated three pro-abortion ambassadors to the Vatican; of course, the pro-life Vatican rejected all three.

• The Air Force removes “God” from the patch of the Rapid Capabilities Office.

• Or, would the President ever publicly ask Muslims in Egypt to stop persecuting Coptic Christians.

• Apparently it is okay attack religion in America for political reasons and to physically abuse or in-prison Christians anywhere in the world, but you can't make a video about the Prophet Mohammed, without the President apologizing to all Muslims?

This list could go on for a while, but the point is made. If the President wanted to make a statement to the Muslim world, how about one that just says, "ENOUGH! This is not about a video, this is about murder and extremist attacks on the US, its ambassadors and its citizens will stop immediately! The rest of the world's religions have to deal with ugly representations of its religious symbols, so if some Muslim's can't do that, then the issue is again not about an awkward, uncomfortable video, it is about hate and criminal activity and the United States will address it in that way." Otherwise, his weak apologies and appeasement just insight more rioting and violence.
