Fighting College Extremism

7/30/23
from The Gray Area:
7/27/23:
After intense pushback from conservatives—like the Rudder Association, an alumni group, and Texas Scorecard, a website run by Tea Party-aligned group Empower Texans, changes were made at Texas A&M. Concerned over ongoing practices pushing DEI and a recent hire of a journalism director who is aproponent of DEI, forced Texas A&M into the spotlight when they had to recind a job offer and forcing the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and the President to resign. Cries of threats to journalism and right wing extremism followed. Censorship by social media is also evident around this issue. The Rudder Association is currently 'blocked' (see here.) on Google. You cannot access their website. So, you don't know what they supposedly stand for, except through left wing media. This is a statement in itself of the blatant censorship not only on this subject, but throughout the media. The Texas Scorecard is still up and they stated: "Several policies were found using ideological tests for the administrative fellows program, teaching that America is systemically racist, and promoting lower tenure standards for “diversity” candidates. The report also found that the percentage of black and Hispanic students that feel they belong at A&M has lowered significantly from 2017 to 2020, as diversity, equity, and inclusion measures increased. Here is hoping that the Texas political establishment recognizes that DEI is a clear and present danger to the academic enterprise and equal justice under the law in our republic..” Who are the extremists here?
