What is Title 42? Title 42 is a public health order that allows Customs and Border Protection to expel migrants to Mexico or back to their home countries to prevent the spread of the virus in holding facilities. The policy was created under the Trump administration and was issued by the CDC in March 2020, at the start of the pandemic. Exceptions to the policy include unaccompanied children, some families and some vulnerable individuals were exempted under the Biden Administration. When the policy was first created under the Trump administration, mostly everyone, including children, were turned away. The Biden Administration announced in April that they plan to rescind the policy on May 23. This issue is not rocket science, its politics. It's also common sense.

Which administration wants open borders (Biden) and which (Trump) wants border security? Therefore, re-opening the border to anyone is a consistent Biden political message.
There is already a crisis at our southern border since 2021, created by President Biden's policies, and that is with the Title 42 policy in place.
Opening the border to potential COVID infected people is inconsistent even for this administration. The Biden Administration is defying the court ordered halting of mask mandates for Americans, yet plan on eliminating Title 42 for migrants at the border. They are still attacking any American without a COVID vaccination, but eliminating Title 42 to migrants without vaccinations. This is obviously inconsistent and hypocritical. Common sense then tells you this has only to do with a crazy political agenda.
Republicans, some Democrats, want Title 42 border policy to stay. Bi-partisanship is desired everywhere today, but curiously ignored on this point.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said that his department is actively preparing for a potential increase in migrants next month when the Trump-era pandemic restriction on the US-Mexico border lifts. Even the Administration believes eliminating Title 42 will make the situation at the border worse.
To eliminate Title 42 hurts Democrats and helps cartels, says Rep Cuellar (D-Texas). Cartels make a lot of money at the border and they will take this as a notice that the border is open wider.
There are migrants from 153 nations crossing our southern border now, some terrorists. Do we really want to further ease entry restrictions now?
The importance of open borders to the Democrats can clearly be seen here, as the administration cares not about the negative impact on its own party in the 2022 mid-terms.
And, potentially making the existing crisis situation at the border worse, the Trump era 'Remain in Mexico' policy may possibly be halted at Biden Administration request next week when the Supreme Court decides on that legal question.

This issue is clear. Leave Title 42 in place. More From USA Today:
