See the twitter reactions to Caitlyn Jenner’s ESPN award from a few people on both sides. Also a rumor is introduced about the origin of the award. Makes you think.

from IJReview,
7/17/15:

Actor and director Peter Berg has faced harsh criticism for a comment he made about Caitlyn Jenner being given the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, reports The Washington Post.

Berg wrote “Yup.” in response to the text of this meme

Among the criticisms launched at Berg were accusations of him being “transphobic” and filled with hate:

@PaulPabst @andrewperloff hope Peter Berg never guests on DP Show again. What a jerk #transphobic

@ParkerMolloy @Danielleri “How can I frame my ignorant transphobia? Oh, I’ll use the military as a shield to deflect the hate” – Peter Berg

However, Berg is not the only person speaking against the award being given to Jenner.

The woman who survived a car crash with Jenner in February, Jessica Steindorff, was angry that Caitlyn was being honored as a hero, writes Breitbart:

“I find it difficult to understand how the culture we live in can honor a person who is responsible for taking a life and injuring several others with both an award and a reality show. For an individual who is such a positive role model in many aspects of her life, Caitlyn has failed to do the right thing and take responsibility for her actions.”

She added, “I would hope that someone who seems to greatly value the importance of human existence would be more sensitive to the fact that she ended another person’s life. Sadly we are living in a tabloid society.”

There have also been rumors swirling about why Jenner got the award, according to Fox News. The claim by “TV insiders” is that the award was given by ESPN in order to land Jenner’s interview with Diane Sawyer for ABC. ESPN is “part of the ABC family.”

Fox News notes that ESPN and ABC representatives have denied the allegations, stating no such deal was made.
