Democrats View President as Their Best Headliner; GOP Says He Should Focus on Foreign Crises.

President Barack Obama plans to spend most of the next two weeks with his family on Martha’s Vineyard, but he won’t take a vacation from fundraising.

The president has committed to filling his party’s coffers, headlining 40 fundraisers so far this year. He attended 10 high-dollar events in July alone, and his vacation plans on the affluent island off the coast of Cape Cod include a fundraiser on Monday.

It is a fundraising push that outpaces that of his predecessor, George W. Bush, and eclipses his own efforts ahead of the 2010 midterm elections.

GOP officials have criticized Mr. Obama’s decision to forge ahead with scheduled fundraisers as international crises have flared. White House officials have been quick to respond that the president travels with many advisers and can deal with pressing issues from any location.
