7/30/14:

Today marks 49 years of Medicare benefits – and in just a few weeks, on August 14th, Social Security turns 79. Every one of those birthdays marks another year that older Americans have depended on these hard-earned benefits – but if some in Congress have their way, these important programs won’t have many happy birthdays left.

It’s time for Congress to give Social Security and Medicare a long-overdue birthday gift: a real commitment to strengthening these critical programs.

Between today and Social Security’s birthday on August 14th, we’ve set an ambitious goal of 100,000 Americans standing up to tell Congress to protect Medicare and Social Security, so they can see we’re serious when it comes to standing up for the benefits we’ve earned.
