Monday’s attack that killed seven people at two locations is believed to be a “workplace violence incident,” officials said Tuesday.

San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus said at a news conference that 66-year-old Zhao Chunli of Half Moon Bay worked at the Mountain Mushroom Farm in the town, and that the only known connection between the victims and the suspect is “they may have been co-workers.”

“All of the evidence we have right now points to a workplace violence incident,” said Eamonn Allen, a spokesman with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe told reporters that an arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
