What To Know: The New York Times’ Paul Krugman says it’s not the president’s fault that Americans feel bad about skyrocketing inflation and a bleak economic outlook. It’s their own fault.

The TPPF Take: This is the economy that President Biden’s policies have produced—inflation, stagnation and now shrinkflation.

“Inflation increases costs for businesses and those costs are passed on to customers, usually in the form of higher prices. Understandably, consumers become angry at this conspicuous method of covering higher costs,” says TPPF’s E.J. Antoni. “An alternative to selling the same thing at a higher price is to charge the same price while shrinking the size of products. America has this shrinkflation phenomenon in spades.”
