GOP governors traveling to border to unveil new security initiative

A group of Republican governors is traveling to the Texas border this week in order to announce a new security initiative.
The Republican governors will attend a news conference in Mission, Texas, with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Wednesday in order to unveil a 10-point security plan for the border, The Associated Press reported.
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) reportedly began travel on Tuesday in order to make the event. His spokesperson C.J. Karamargin confirmed to the AP that he will be in attendance along with seven other GOP governors.

Republicans have lashed out at the White House and President Biden on the issue of immigration in recent months, citing a record number of migrants entering the country this year. The president has also faced criticism from Democrats for his immigration policies, as progressives have blasted the administration for not moving on from some moves implemented under President Trump.
