Is the Ninth Circuit the “Worst” Appeals Court?
< < Go Back
When it comes to the Judiciary, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, based in San Francisco, is perhaps the biggest whipping boy among conservatives. Many high profile cases decided against policies favored by conservatives or high profile cases involving liberal policies being upheld do emanate from the Ninth Circuit. Some, including President Trump, have referred to the Ninth Circuit as the most liberal court of appeals in the United States. Others have argued for breaking apart the Ninth Circuit.
But then President Donald Trump got a hold of it. President Trump’s ten appointments to the Ninth Circuit have had the net effect of moving that court from a whopping 18-7 Democratic majority to a much tighter 16-13 majority.
Trump has ushered in the end of an era — no more will liberals dominate the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and use the federal appellate court as a rubber stamp for defeating pro-life legislation and pushing abortion on demand.
Last Fall, the U.S. Senate voted to confirm Deputy Assistant Attorney General Lawrence VanDyke to serve on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. President Trump nominated VanDyke in September.
