Dems like spending $2B to secure the Capitol, but not the border

The House will also vote on a $2 billion slush fund, H.R.3237 – Emergency Security Supplemental to Respond to January 6th Appropriations Act 2021, that is ostensibly to pay for additional Capitol security. In reality, many of the funds will go toward MRAs (Member Representational Allowances). The allowances can be used on a wide discretion of expenses including staff and office space. Following Rahm Emanuel’s counsel to never let a crisis go to waste, Democrats are also using the events of January 6th to attempt to get spending increases through.

There is a rich hypocrisy here, as Congressional Democrats are prepared to spend $2 billion to “secure” their office spaces, but previously fought the Trump Administration’s efforts to spend similar amounts for a border wall to secure and protect the American people.
