What to Know: California is losing a seat in the House of Representatives, while Texas gains two, according to new Census numbers.
The TPPF Take: The reason is simple—people can’t afford to live in California anymore, and they’re coming to places like Texas.
“California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s crushing COVID-19 response, leading to mass business closures and unemployment, was the last straw for many Californians,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “More than 2.1 million Californians channeled their frustration into signing a recall petition to force Newsom out of office sometime this autumn—just after a summer of power blackouts due to the state’s overdependence on periodic solar power and unreliable wind.”
