Break the Monopoly of Viewpoints in University Life

My point is that no particular perspective is entitled to a monopoly or should be given one. Students should be exposed to competing points of view and empowered to assess them critically and think for themselves. The monopolists should be opposed and the monopolies broken up.

Send them the message that, whatever their high schools may have been like, intellectual conformism and groupthink are not welcome here. Your ideas will be challenged. You are here to *think*–deeply, critically, and for yourself. You might as well get used to it. It starts now.
