No, they have not. They report on cases, which are important but not urgent, and on the number of deaths this year, not now! That is all done for a purpose and it is not public health.

The US media has done a historic disservice to the people of this country regarding their reporting on the Coronavirus pandemic. From hysterical hyping of the pandemic early, to denying any Chinese responsibility for the virus, to attacking the pandemic leadership of President Trump on a daily basis, to ignoring President Trump’s success in addressing the pandemic (think PDE, getting full cooperation from American business, to increase in testing, to downplaying better care, to vaccine development in historic time frame, …), to promoting crazy lockdowns, and saving state Governors, like Cuomo of New York, from their own panic. It is no wonder that the public thinks the virus is a death sentence.

To get the truth out we have to vary our news sources as we have to do with everything today. Not a healthy skepticism, but aggressively doubting everything you hear in all media is necessary.

Here’s how: Get your news data point from your favorite news source, then investigate other news sources on the same issue to find enough data to develop your own opinion. Do NOT use the opinion of media personalities who have and will continue to lie to you.

Here are a couple of basic CDC statistics of where we are with COVID today:

1. Cases are not the problem. Reporting of cases are not accurate, testing is imprecise, over testing increases case count, cases do NOT mean people have symptoms or are sick.

2. Widespread lockdown policy has been a devastating public health mistake!

3. We now know who are the most vulnerable. The primary focus of our COVID response should center on helping those known to be most at risk from the virus.

4. Hospitalizations are important & potentially urgent. Who is getting hospitalized? The most vulnerable. State’s should be protecting these populations better.

5. Flu deaths 2018-19 season= 34,200
Flu hospitalizations 2018-19 season = 490,600
Flu sickness reported = 35.5M
Death rate = 0.01% (80 x less likely to die from case of flu than now from COVID)

6. Pneumonia deaths annually = 50,000
Death rate = 3.85% (3,865 x more likely to die from case of pneumonia than now from COVID)

7. COVID Deaths 2020 = 253,500
COVID Cases = 11.5M
Death rate = 2.2% (Avg 2020)

8. COVID in Mar vs November:
COVID deaths Mar, Apr, May = 109,481 (2.3x deaths in Sept/Oct/Nov)
COVID death rate Mar, Apr, May = 6.13%
COVID cases Mar, Apr, May = 1,786,321

COVID deaths June, Jul, Aug = 77,339
COVID death rate June, Jul, Aug = 1.83%
COVID cases June, Jul, Aug = 4,231,978

COVID deaths Sept, Oct, Nov = 47,444 (reduced deaths 57% since Mar/Apr/May)
COVID death rate Sept, Oct, Nov = 0.8% (reduced death rate 87% since Mar/Apr/May)
99.2% survive now!. The media said Trump was lying!
COVID cases Sept, Oct, Nov = 5,825,191 (3.2x cases in Mar/Apr/May)

If you just use November results, the rate is much lower still! Consistently declining death rates indicates success in managing a pandemic.

Still, a sensible and compassionate Anti-COVID strategy is necessary. Read the ideas below.

[In this article], … first, to present the facts about how deadly COVID-19 actually is; second, to present the facts about who is at risk from COVID; third, to present some facts about how deadly the widespread lockdowns have been; and fourth, to recommend a shift in public policy.
