The sky is NOT falling.

The media is gaslighting America on COVID, again.
This weekend, the mainstream media was apoplectic about President Trump’s July 4th speeches in which he said that 99% of COVID-19 cases survive. OMG! How can he make such an ‘unverified statement’ they say. Cases are up! This is a crisis! The states that opened were fools! Why doesn’t Trump wear a mask to show he is scared, too! OMG! OMG! OMG! !!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, that is our media. No surprise there. Unless you believe them.
The facts are very straightforward.
- We must learn to co-exist with this virus. Even with a vaccine.
- There were 810,000 flu victims hospitalized in 2019 – and that is with flu vaccines.
- We are doing dramatically more testing.
- We are opening up estate economies again, people are getting out.
- Case are rising. Where cases are rising, local governments can see how and why and are taking whatever steps are necessary to keep cases down.
- Death rates were 75% lower per capita in states that opened vs those who did not.
- COVID-19 death rates are improving.
- Coronavirus fatality rate for people under 45 ‘almost 0%’
- Hospitals are not being overrun. Only 3 counties in Texas are reporting hospitals issues, others have less than 15% occupancy.
- It has been reported that cases could be 10 times higher than currently confirmed. If that is true, then the math says that we have 23 million cases or a 0.5% death rate.
- Or, said as President Trump said it, 99.5% recovery.
The truth is more complex, and with data, even more simple.
1. If you are over 60, you are at risk. If you are over 60, you are at risk from the flu. too. Shelter in place.
2. If you are medically fragile for some reason, especially regarding lung capability, you are at risk. Again, you are also at risk from other diseases. Shelter in place.
3. If you are living with someone at risk, then you have to take extra precautions. Shelter in place as much as possible and take the other precautions that are communicated ad nauseum.
4. Others groups may test positive (i.e., cases going up) and not even know it. But, you have to be careful not to transmit if you are tested positive.
5. Otherwise, go about your life, practicing as much safety as you feel is reasonable.
7. Deaths per million by state.
– 1. New Jersey 1,718 deaths per million
– 2. New York 1,656 deaths per million
– 3 – 9. Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, D.C., Louisiana, Michigan, Illinois
– US Average the 400 per million
– Ohio is 251 deaths per million
– Arizona is at 250
– Florida is 172 deaths per million
– Texas is 91 deaths per million.
This pandemic is not a death sentence. But you wouldn’t know this, because they’re not telling you. They’re not reporting the number of deaths per million. In other words, they’re not reporting the survivability rate. No one wants to get sick, but 99% will survive. There are caveats to that, of course. And, we know what they are. And, with what President Trump Task Force did the first have of the year, we are now in position to handle whatever it throws at us.
Is it everyone’s responsibility to protect those at risk, of course it is, within reason. But, it is your responsibility, if you are at risk, to make your own healthcare decisions. If you decide to go out and take a chance, then that is your right and your risk. Yelling at someone for not wearing a mask is lunacy. They don’t have the virus, most likely, and therefore have to be less careful than you.
Personal responsibility is one of the top founding principles of this country. Your rights end when they infringe on those of another. Shutting down the country and its citizens again, because the media says the sky is falling, is the worst possible reaction to this pandemic which we now know is not a death sentence anymore, if it ever was.
So, as always, do not believe the media. Vary your news sources and use your own common sense. You will know what to do.
