On Monday, Heritage Action released its findings from three major polls we conducted of likely 2020 voters.

In Politico Magazine, Executive Director Tim Chapman writes about Heritage Action’s efforts:

Our goal was simple: To find out what issues currently motivate the coalition that elected Donald Trump and Republican congressional majorities in 2016, so that we can keep that coalition together and expand it while advancing the conservative ideals we hold dear.
We hired the most reputable, conservative polling firms (the guys that correctly predicted that Donald Trump would win when no one else did) to help us find out what issues motivate the coalition that elected Donald Trump and Republican congressional majorities in 2016 so that we can keep that coalition together in 2020.

We wanted to find the issues that will bring victory in 2020 while advancing conservative principles and policies. Here are just a few of the things we learned:

  • 36 percent of Republican voters think immigration is the top issue in 2020 (this is more than for any other single issue)
  • 76% of American voters support pro-life legislation to protect babies who survive abortions
  • 61% of voters think socialism is a “bad economic system”
  • 73% of voters reject political correctness and believe that it poses a problem
