This week, the Democrat-controlled House debated a trillion dollar “minibus” to provide next year’s funding for several governmental departments, including Labor-Health and Human Services-Education, Legislative Branch, Defense, State-Foreign Operations, and Energy and Water Development.

Here’s a short list of what’s wrong with this spending bill:

  • It underfunds Defense by providing only half the requested increase
  • Prohibits funding to be used to build a wall, fence, or other border security infrastructure
  • Spends taxpayer dollars on overseas abortions
  • Increases funding for a litany of wasteful programs
  • Hurts jobs by blocking America’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on Climate Change

Liberals are so set on making sure we don’t secure the border that they are even blocking billions in humanitarian aid funding because it’s tied to border security. Things have gotten so bad, that even the liberal New York Times is now calling the situation at our southern border a “crisis.”

Meanwhile, the real budget fight is happening behind closed doors in secret negotiations. House and Senate leaders plan to irresponsibly bust through the spending caps and drive up spending across the board, and the American people are being kept in the dark on the details.

Congress has no budget. They won’t secure the border. And they shun accountability.
