James Woods characterizes this tweet series properly and shines a light on the distortions of reality on the internet and social media. Let me explain.

Ben Shapiro, tweeted

and explained on his Daily Wire show, that Notre Dame “is a monument to western civilization … and Judeo-Christian heritage“. This is immediately attacked by with a Washington Post op-ed and tweet by Talia Lavin, @chick_in_kiev,, for being hateful to Muslims and part of a Islamophobic narrative on the right. Shapiro responds:

In the back and forth you see clearly several issues affecting our culture today.

1. Reading into others speech your own beliefs about them, when totally out of context to the point. Truth having been totally discounted. This drives the left’s attacks on the right of racism, LGBT discrimination, bigotry, et al.

2. Then others get involved and you see the insertion of unrelated examples of right wing harassment, which is unsupported by fact, but heavily supported by media and political repetition.

3. You see the angry, vulgar, Media Matters response to Shapiro when those same people realize they were wrong about the entire episode.

4. Finally, you have someone jumping in to say, how they like your narrative and want to subscribe!?!?

To which James Woods caps the conversation properly with this:
